Key Characteristics and Care Appearance: They possess a round, flat body that develops a dark, fruit-like purple flush as they mature, often accented with vibrant red anal fins. Size: They reach up to 6–7 inches (15-18 cm) in captivity. Diet: Primarily herbivorous/omnivorous; they require consistent vegetable matter (spinach, spirulina) to prevent them from eating ornamental plants. Temperament: Generally peaceful, but they are active swimmers and best kept in groups of 5+ to reduce stress. Compatibility: Excellent in large community tanks with other large-bodied, non-aggressive fish like Severums and Angels, but they may consume very small tank mates.
