🐟 ARAPAIMA 🌎 Origin: Amazon Basin, South America 🇧🇷🇵🇪 📏 Adult Size: 6–10 ft (1.8–3 m+) 🏠 Tank Size: Juvenile – 4-5 ft tank; Adult – very large custom pond/tank recommended 🌡️ Temperature: 24–30°C 💧 pH: 6.0–7.5 ⚡ Temperament: Predatory, generally peaceful with very large tank mates; will eat smaller fish ⏳ Lifespan: 15–20+ years with excellent care 🍤 Feeding: High-quality carnivorous pellets, prawns, fish, insects & other meaty foods; juveniles need more frequent feeding 🐠 Tank Mates: 🪨 Oscar, Peacock Bass, Large Pleco, Tiger Shovelnose Catfish, Redtail Catfish, Arowana (only when appropriately sized and the aquarium is exceptionally large) 🏠 Tank Setup & Care: • Extremely large swimming space is essential • Powerful filtration + excellent oxygenation • Strong, tightly secured lid — Arapaima are powerful jumpers • Keep plenty of open swimming space; avoid sharp decorations • Maintain excellent water quality and perform regular water changes • Juveniles grow rapidly, so plan the adult enclosure before purchase 💙 AAF Tips: ⭐ Arapaima is not a normal home-aquarium fish—adult specimens require pond-scale facilities. ⭐ Never keep small fish with Arapaima; anything that fits in its mouth can become prey. ⭐ Feed appropriately and avoid overfeeding to maintain healthy growth and water quality.
